JoAnn Kocum Nulsen ’81 joined the Bertarelli Institute for Family Entrepreneurship (BIFE) Advisory Board in 2019. She is currently working with her husband, Charlie ’79 to incorporate their Dynasty Trust into a Nulsen Family Office operating agreement and governance structure. The Nulsen Family office is supported by Washington Property Company (WPC), a full service real estate development company started by Charlie in 2005. WPC specializes in office, retail and apartment buildings. Unique to other companies in the industry, WPC develops, invests in, and manages all of their properties. It is ranked in the top ten real estate companies in the greater Washington market.
Upon graduation, JoAnn worked for Honeywell in their Level 6 minicomputer marketing division. In 1983 she joined Microsoft as a retail software trainer in their newly opened office in DC. During her career at the company, which spanned eleven years, JoAnn was the sales representative for the Mid Atlantic territory. From there until her retirement, she was the District Manager for the southeast division, overseeing sales to retail accounts, corporate accounts and education institutions.
After retiring in 1994, JoAnn spent her time devoted to raising their four children Jordan, Chase, Hailey and Ramsey. Now that their children are grown she is looking forward to joining the BIFE Board.
