Marcus Wise MBA ’06, is a third-generation joint owner/manager of Wise Music Group. The group comprises an international family of music publishing companies based on substantial music catalogue ownership and promotion of its music assets in film, TV, advertising, streaming and stage productions. Additional activities include a music-themed book publishing company, specialized record labels, and a thriving digital music education division.  

The group owns or controls over 400,000 copyrights and publishes over 100 living composers. It offers a full-service approach spanning copyright administration, royalty processing, licensing, income tracking and business affairs. In addition, it provides A&R services, classical hire libraries and editorial services.

Wise Music’s catalogues reflect a broad range of popular music encompassing, evergreen, jazz, reggae, blues and pop/rock songs from all territories. Among the most famous titles are “Time of the Season,” “Lovin’ You,” “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend,” “Tainted Love,” “The Tide Is High,” “Sunny,” “The Twist,” “Try A Little Tenderness,” “I’m Not In Love,” “Big Spender,” “We’ll Meet Again,” and “Strange Fruit.”

It also maintains a portfolio of the world’s largest independent holdings of classical music including international rights to the works of many leading classical composers.  The group also maintains a prestigious roster of composers including Ludovico Einaudi, Ólafur Arnalds, Philip Glass, Igor Stravinsky, Olivier Messiaen, Jean Sibelius, Dmitri Shostakovich, Sergei Prokofiev, Bryce Dessner, Kaija Saariaho, John Tavener, and Samuel Barber.

Marcus currently sits on the Board of Directors and is the Global Director of Media as well as managing the company’s record labels, media composers and many of its M&A activities.
