THE DIANA PROJECT™

Established in 1999 by five founding scholars, The Diana Project™ engages in research activities, forums and scholarship focusing on women entrepreneurs and their growth. 

The Diana Project™The Diana Project produced the first research identifying the challenges that women face in acquiring growth capital to scale and expand their businesses.  By identifying and focusing on the vital importance of women entrepreneurs for wealth creation, innovation and economic advancement throughout the world, The Diana Project created a research community where important theoretical, empirical and practical questions could be explored and yield data informing policy and practice.  The Diana Project in essence legitimated research on gender and women’s entrepreneurship as an important sub-field of study, and provided a forum and research publications for the presentation and discussion of this research.  Further, the innovative collaborative research partnership has implications for research moving forward. The history, contributions, impact and future directions of the Diana Project are noted in a recent article, “The Diana Project: A Legacy for Research on Gender in Entrepreneurship”, by Candida Brush, Patricia Greene and Friederike Welter, International Journal of Gender & Entrepreneurship.
