What is your pre-Babson experience?

During my undergraduate studies at Stetson University, I worked two internships. During the summer before my senior year, I interned for City on a Hill Charter Public Schools in Boston as a network office intern, where I assisted the accounting and human resources departments. During my senior year, I interned with Keyes, Stange & Wooten CPA Firm in Daytona Beach, Florida, where I worked as a tax intern. In addition, I worked part-time for Team Fitness Franklin in Franklin, MA, my family's business.

Why did you choose Babson for your graduate education?

During my graduate school search, I was looking for a school that—through personal growth, intellectual development, and a common mission of building the future through educational and professional achievement—would provide the tools to help me translate accounting theory and practice into real world application and success. Babson's educational environment, which promotes technical, personal, and professional excellence and competence, was intriguing, and the opportunity to return home and attend a school like Babson was one I could not decline.

What are your career goals?

In the short term, my career ambitions include earning my Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and establishing myself as a reliable, consistent performer in the workplace. In the long term, I want to start my own business. Business ownership and operation has been a staple of my family for decades, and my goal is to create something that can attain the same level of success.

Babson's accounting courses build upon my undergraduate foundation, and other electives, such as a writing and a presentation course, improve vital soft skills that can separate one during the interview process and when being considered for a promotion. Babson's environment instills confidence in my ability to perform in any arena.

As a Babson student, what do you do when not in class?

Although my primary focus is my classwork, I periodically attend meetings for the Student Leadership Initiative Fund (SLIF), which supports leadership endeavors that promote the Babson brand. The fund is managed by current students, and requests are granted for forums, case competitions, panel presentations, tournaments, and other endeavors. This is yet another opportunity to connect with students from other programs and to learn about the interests of Babson students.

What is your favorite part of the Babson student experience?

Babson's small classes improve the overall educational experience. A better rapport can be established with professors, and the experiences and knowledge of your classmates can be better displayed in a smaller environment. Learning from others and incorporating their knowledge and advice into your own routine will make you a better student, professional, and person.
