What is your pre-Babson experience?
I previously attended Vanderbilt University. Before coming to Babson, I worked as an assistant director of operations at uAspire.
Why did you choose Babson for your graduate education?
I was looking to redefine my career as a creative professional. Although I was proud of my work at uAspire and was aligned with their mission, I felt that if I didn't make a change soon, I was going to be pigeonholed as the "operations" guy. After a conversation with the executive director of Ashoka U, I realized that I was misbranded, and I was more of an entrepreneurial force for social enterprises. So, I thought to myself, how could I put myself in the best situation possible to become my aspirational self? The answer I came up with was to attend Babson's MBA program.
As a Babson student, what did you do when not in class?
While I was a student, I was a graduate assistant for Food Sol at The Lewis Institute. During my time there, I was able to meet some of the leading voices in Boston's food ecosystem by assisting Food Sol with event planning and strategic positioning research. Simultaneously, in the fall of 2015, several classmates and I came together and started the Usurpers, a social innovation focus group which worked hand in hand with The Lewis Institute to formulate a path forward for Babson's curriculum and resources as it relates to triple bottom line, social enterprises, stakeholder integration, and rethinking the paradigm of profit.
What was your favorite part of the Babson student experience?
The students. It was an absolutely irreplaceable experience to work alongside students from every corner of the earth, especially as it relates to the future of business.
