Semester in San Francisco
Study in the epicenter of tech entrepreneurship
We are offering for the Fall 2019 semester, the opportunity for undergraduate students to study at Babson’s San Francisco campus, located in the city’s thriving hub of entrepreneurial activity. The experience exposes you to the diverse business community, ranging from established organizations to the startup scene of Silicon Valley as well as the history and culture of San Francisco and theatre inspired or born in the greater Bay Area. Students participate in alumni networking events, company visits, consulting projects, neighborhood walking tours, and theatre performances while taking 2 entrepreneurship and 2 liberal arts courses (16 credits).
Where You’ll Live
Students that participate in the Semester in San Francisco program are responsible for evaluating and securing their own housing for the duration of the program. All students are ultimately responsible for finding housing that meets their needs and expectations. Upon admission to the program, students will receive further information regarding housing.
Prestigious Fortune 100 company or rapidly growing startup, online clothing retailer or mobile payment provider, you’ll travel all around the Bay Area to explore and learn from organizations making a big impact around the world. Previous company treks included visits to Airbnb, Facebook, Inflection, 500 Startups,Taylor Stitch, Google, Square, Woodside Capital Partners, Virool, Optimizely, and Intel.
You'll take 4 courses through a hybrid of in-person face-to-face learning and telepresence video conferencing technology. The two entrepreneurship classes consist of a venture creation class and a consulting class where you'll work as a consultant to address a business challenge. The two liberal arts classes consist of a west and urban america class and a class on theatre, politics, and performances in the City by the Bay.
In San Francisco, there’s so much to see, eat, and do. Previous field trips and fun outings have included trips to Haight-Ashbury, Castro, Muir Woods, Angel Island, SF Giants Baseball games, and the Japanese Tea Garden; a night tour of Alcatraz; attending the Beach Blanket Babylon musical revue, learning puppetry, participating in political theatre workshops with the Mime Troupe, and eclectic mini-golf at Urban Putt.
