Founder’s Day
Founder’s Day, which dates to 1947, recognizes Roger W. Babson, founder and first president of Babson College, and honors his passion for entrepreneurship, education, and philanthropy.

| 4:15–6 p.m. | Founder’s Fest: Undergraduate Event – Park Manor Quad Rain location: The Babson Recreation and Athletics Complex Celebrate our founder, Roger Babson, and the generosity of our donors outdoors by enjoying music, fun lawn and carnival games, tattoo art and photo magnets, cool giveaways, and a variety of delicious apple treats! |
| 4:30–6:30 p.m. | Founder’s Fest: Graduate Event – Knight Lawn Rain location: Knight Auditorium We will celebrate being back at Babson with new and old friends! Join us for a traditional southern style barbeque, fun prizes, and cool giveaways. And as always, we will have a variety of delicious apple treats in honor of Roger Babson and his admiration for Sir Isaac Newton. |

In 1954, the campus added its first Newton Apple Tree (left), a fourth-generation scion purchased from the Pennsylvania Historical Commission the previous December. The tree was a gift to Roger Babson from his wife, Grace, as a tribute to his longstanding admiration of Sir Isaac Newton. While Newton’s tree is known for its pear-shaped Flower of Kent apples, this particular offshoot produced very few of them. However, its grafts produced an entire grove that was planted on campus in 2005, relocated in 2013, and now adorns the north lawn of Tomasso Hall.
