  • Intermediate Ceramics
    Intermediate Ceramics Full Details [X]

    Babson Campus - Sorenson Family Visual Arts Center - Trim 221

    This 8-week course exposes students to key ceramic and wheel throwing principles. Central to the course is a "learn by doing" approach and sensitivity toward creativity and fun. Students have the freedom to make their own work with guidance from the teacher. Students could be introduced to such topics as throwing plates, lids, spouts, teapots and double walled vessels. You will have class time to ask questions and learn some more intermediate techniques.  Class meets once a week for eight weeks with a two hour class each week and the studio fee gives students unlimited access to glaze and clay for the semester. Instructor: Matt Hard

    Babson Campus - Sorenson Family Visual Arts Center - Trim 221
    This course offers an introduction to clay as an artistic medium. Students will learn basic techniques, including handbuilding, wheel throwing, trimming, and glazing. The goal is that students will gain enough ceramic knowledge and experience to continue with ceramics on their own or at a higher level. Class meets once a week for eight weeks with a two hour class each week and the studio fee gives students access to glaze and clay for the semester. By the end of the course students will be able to make small bowls and mugs on the pottery wheel. Instructor: Emily Schultz

    Babson Campus - Sorenson Family Visual Arts Center - Trim 221

    This course will be a whirlwind of different ceramic techniques. We will be going over a variety of handbuilding techniques and learn how to use some of the interesting tools in the studio, the extruder, the slab roller and slump molds. Any level student is welcome, but a solid understanding of basic techniques would be helpful. We will be learning some more throwing techniques, how to make lids, how to make closed forms, how to shape vases, as well as how to combine thrown forms with hand building techniques to alter and elevate your work. Instructor: Alex Spies
