Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon

Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon

On June 1, 2014, triathletes from around the globe will descend on San Francisco for one chance to attempt the impossible – ESCAPE from Alcatraz.

Babson is excited to be sponsoring the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon and the Babson Corporate Challenge for a third year. Join us in San Francisco as the world watches who has what it takes to ESCAPE from Alcatraz!

Babson is looking for students, alumni, faculty or staff to participate in the full triathlon or the corporate challenge. As the corporate challenge and triathlon occur at the same time, participants cannot compete in both. Triathletes will compete individually in the full race.

The Triathlon includes a 1.5 miles swim, an 18 mile bike ride and an 8 mile run. The Corporate Challenge consists of 3-person teams, with each teammate completing one leg of the triathlon. Corporate challenge teams must consist of 3 individuals as no teammate can complete more than one leg of the race.

The Course

The Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon typically features a 1.5-mile swim through frigid waters from Alcatraz Island to the shores of the St. Francis Yacht Club, a grueling 18-mile bike ride, and a demanding 8-mile run through the trails of the Golden Gate Recreational Area. Set against the natural beauty of San Francisco, this thrilling triathlon is a virtual postcard of the City by the Bay. View the course (pdf) »
