Abby Speicher Carroll MBA’15
CEO and Co-founder, DARTdrones
What is your pre-Babson experience?
I earned my undergraduate degree from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. Before coming to Babson, I worked for Daakye, a company I started when I was 17.
Why did you choose Babson for your graduate education?
I learned while working on Daakye in college how difficult it is to start and run a new company. I wanted to expand my education in entrepreneurship, and I knew Babson was the only place I wanted to go.
As a Babson student, what did you do when not in class?
I was a member of the Design Thinking Club, The Women Innovating Now Lab, and the Summer Venture Program. I also participated in The Entrepreneurship Forum and the Entrepreneurship Intensity Track.
What was your favorite part of the Babson student experience?
I loved that we rarely were forced to sit down and work alone. Almost every project involved working with a group and trying to creatively problem solve.
What piece of advice changed your life?
You are a round peg in a square hole. Never apologize for that.
How has being a member of the Babson community helped impact your career?
Babson gave me all the tools that I needed to be a successful entrepreneur. DARTdrones is a “founded at Babson” startup. We owe much of our success to the Babson community!
Why does the world need more leaders with an entrepreneurial mindset?
The world is constantly changing. The only way forward is through creative problem solving, and nobody is better at that than entrepreneurs.
What do others need to know about Babson?
If you have any interest in becoming an entrepreneur, Babson is the best place to learn to make your dream a reality.
