What is your pre-Babson experience?

Before coming to Babson, I was a country manager for Chile for Maui and Sons. I previously attended Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

Why did you choose Babson for your graduate education?

In Chile, Babson is well known as a highly prestigious school for entrepreneurship and family business. Also, I knew that Babson has a strong contingent of Latin American students and alumni in the MBA program, which would allow me to find potential new business partners and make business friends in my region—specifically Peru and Colombia. Location was also important for me; I applied at schools near cities (like Boston) that are immersed in an entrepreneurial environment. Finally, I have a wife and newborn, so it was important to find a school in a city with affordable health care and educational opportunities for my wife.

What are your career goals?

While pursuing my MBA, I'm creating a retail app. Babson has helped me find partners for that endeavor, and my professors are helping us understand how to launch the business. Also, my family's business is an investor in a Chilean real estate firm with offices in Miami and Boston. I hope, at Babson and in Boston, I can use this connection to learn more about how to value real estate assets, networking, etc.

As a Babson student, what do you do when not in class?

I'm a member of the Babson soccer team. We play every Friday in the Harvard League and participate in multiple tournaments like the Yale Cup, Texas Cup, Dartmouth College Cup, and the MBA World Cup. I'm also getting involved in the family business club and the Latin America Club.

What was your favorite part of the Babson student experience?

My Babson classmates are extraordinary. The Latin American population has enabled me to build a network in the region I am from. A lot of classmates come from family business—especially from Latin America—which means I can connect with likeminded, entrepreneurial students during my MBA experience. Babson’s professors are also amazing. They are accessible, and willing to help you at any time.
