What is your pre-Babson experience?
I attended McGill University for my undergraduate degree. Before coming to Babson, I founded a subscription meal-kit company called Caché, which was sold to a large grocery store chain in 2017.
Why did you choose Babson for your graduate education?
There was really no other option for me personally; I did not apply to any other school because I didn't want or need a standard piece of paper that said MBA on it. My motivation for attending Babson was to improve my skills specifically related to managing, financing, and scaling a business. The breadth of the courses offered at Babson in these specific, niche areas of entrepreneurship is unparalleled.
What are your career ambitions, and how is Babson helping you achieve them?
I plan to return to Toronto and start a second business, this time with my former mentor and his business partner. We are exploring a few possibilities, and I will be using the resources at Babson to help facilitate bringing these to market. Specifically, the speech and writing centers will be useful, as well as The Butler Launch Pad, to which I will apply later this year. Courses such as "Financing New Ventures" and "Managing a Growing Business" have been extremely useful in providing practical strategies and advice, which I will take to heart as I begin to work on my post-graduation business.
What was your favorite part of the Babson student experience?
The fact that the professors are not stuck in the ivory towers of academia. They are approachable, helpful, and maintain close ties with the real world. Every meeting with a professor—even after a course has finished—is akin to receiving free consulting; I plan to use this valuable resource as much as I can over the course of this year.
