Director of Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Services

Ashleigh Hala is the Director of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services at Babson College. She provides confidential intervention services, consultation regarding policy initiatives, advocacy, and support for students who have experienced sexual harassment, stalking, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault/rape. Ashleigh is also responsible for the overall preventative vision and strategy for the college, including building prevention models to address sexual assault and intimate partner violence. Over the past year, Ashleigh has developed a bystander intervention curriculum for the Babson community with funding from the Avon Foundation for Women. Ashleigh also helped develop the Babson SAFE Hotline, a Babson-specific rape crisis hotline available to students 24/7/365.

At Babson, Ashleigh’s favorite role is advising student groups. Ashleigh is involved with four groups – The Alliance for Sexual Assault Prevention, The Sexual Assault Prevention Task Force, Peers On Wellness, and PRIDE Alliance – all of which play a critical role in shifting the campus culture and conversation around sexual violence.

Before working at Babson, Ashleigh was the Associate Director of Residence Life at Wheelock College. Within that capacity, she oversaw the Resident Assistant student leadership program, student conduct, and college housing. Ashleigh was also Wheelock’s Title IX Coordinator and developed policy and procedures related to gender-based misconduct. In addition, Ashleigh worked closely with student and staff LGBTQ groups on campus. During her time at Wheelock, Ashleigh received the “Club Advisor of the Year” award for her work with the Gay-Straight Alliance. In recognition of her significant contributions to the Wheelock community, she was nominated by colleagues and selected by the president for the annual “President’s Service Award.”

Ashleigh earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Wheelock College and a master’s degree in social work with a focus in community organizing, program development, and human services management from Boston University.
