Mary Powell, Director, Department of Accessibility Services

Mary ​Powell

Director, Accessibility Services

Mary Powell, Director of Accessibility Services, oversees the Department of Accessibility Services at Babson College, and has worked in the field of academic support for over 30 years. Mary is responsible for the management, strategic planning, and decision making for the academic support programs provided by the department. Mary’s team manages the operational components of academic accommodations, which include but are not limited to, the exam proctoring program, and the peer note-taking program. Mary partners with colleagues to promote student accessibility as a campus-wide responsibility and promotes universal design principles.

Mary holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Providence College. She earned her Master of Education from Harvard University, where she focused on reading, language and learning disabilities.

Associate Director, Accessibility Services

In partnership with the Director of Accessibility Services, Lindsay assists in managing the daily operations of the resources and services that support the College’s responsibility to ensure equal access for students with disabilities, and advises campus partners on accessibility accommodation-related issues for students. Lindsay works with a cohort of students in the graduate school, incoming first-years, and transfer students. Also, Lindsay coordinates the notetaking program, the temporary medical injury accommodations, and the assistive technology program.

Lindsay holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a Minor in Psychology from Bridgewater State University and a Master of Science in Education from Simmons University. Additionally, she completed an Applied Behavior Analysis Specialization from Western New England University.

EJ Chen

Coordinator, Accessibility Services

Under the supervision of the Associate Director, EJ manages the day-to-day operations of the department’s exam proctoring program, as well as supports the department’s notetaking program.

EJ earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Science from Soochow University, Suzhou, China and her MA in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Colleen Biron is the administrative assistant in Student Advising & Success and Accessibility Services. She oversees the front desk and handles the overall office support functions and event planning as a part of her day-to-day duties.

She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Boston Conservatory.
