​Jan Holton, MSW, LICSW

Director of Counseling Services

As Director of Counseling Services, Jan Holton serves as a liaison between Human Relations Service (HRS) and Babson College. Jan works collaboratively with Student Affairs colleagues, class deans, faculty, staff, and HRS clinicians to provide high-quality services that are both holistic and responsive in addressing mental health concerns that may be interfering in a student’s ability to achieve academic and/or personal success at Babson. She is responsible for caring for students experiencing mental health crises, as well as consulting with families, staff and faculty regarding student wellness.

Prior to joining the Babson Community in 2012, Jan was an Assistant Professor of Social Work, Associate Dean of Students, and Director of Counseling at Gordon College for 17 years. In addition, she worked with students, families and individuals at North Shore Psychological Associates. Earlier in her career, Jan was the Executive Director of the Advance Eating Disorders Program, where she set up and supervised 13 inpatient eating disorder treatment centers throughout the country. Recently, Jan has served as an external reviewer for college and university counseling centers in Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, California and Minnesota.

Jan has been a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker for over 30 years. She earned her MSW from Boston University and her BA from Mount Holyoke College.
