Babson Alumni Supporting Entrepreneurs

Share your business knowledge and expertise with fellow Babson entrepreneurs

Babson Alumni Supporting Entrepreneurs (BASE), formerly the Babson Alumni Resource Network, is a unique program that provides Babson alumni and student entrepreneurs with consultations by experienced alumni who act as business consultants.  BASE consultants serve as sounding boards and coaches, providing insights and perspectives, based on their own business experience and expertise.

BASE is partnering with the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship and the Butler Venture Accelerator Program to offer alumni volunteers the opportunity to connect with the heart of Babson's entrepreneurial community.  Now both BASE consultants and clients benefit from access to the Accelerator's robust offerings, inlcuding workshops and networking events.

How does it work?

Beginning in fall 2015, alumni and students entrepreneurs can access the rich knowledge and expertise of BASE consultants in two ways:  (1) Virtual Consultations, and (2) Open Office Hours.  The time commitment will vary depending upon whether you are interested in serving as a volunteer for Virtual Consultations, for Open Office Hours, or both.

Virtual Consultations
BASE consultants meet one-on-one with clients with whom you’ve been matched based upon the client’s business level and your industry and/or areas of expertise.  These consultations are scheduled at your convenience and are intended to be no more than 1 hour (each) in duration.  At the conclusion of each consultation, you’ll be asked to complete a brief Consultation Feedback Form.

Open Office Hours
BASE consultants meet with 4 – 6 Babson alumni and student entrepreneurs.  Meetings may be in person –on the Wellesley campus, or virtual –via conference call).  Each 30 minute appointment will provide the entrepreneur with the opportunity to share information about their business and a specific business challenge/issue and for you to share your insights and expertise to help guide them.  At the conclusion of the meeting, if appropriate, we ask that you encourage the entrepreneur to complete a BASE Client Application.

BASE Consultants who host Open Office Hours typically meet with 4 – 6 alumni and student entrepreneurs during a 3 or 4 hour timeframe.  You may volunteer for one or more Open Office Hour sessions during the year.

For our Fall 2015 pilot, Open Office Hours are scheduled for the following dates/times:
  • Monday, 10/19 from 3 - 6 pm EST
  • Tuesday, 11/17 from 3 - 6 pm EST

Volunteer to be a BASE Consultant
If you are a Babson alumnus/a who would like to help alumni and student entrepreneurs tackle specific business challenges or develop strategies to grow their businesses, please complete a Volunteer Application.  Once we recieve your completed application, a BASE Leadership Team member will reach out to you to talk in more detail about your business expertise and about the specific areas in which you can help our Babson entrepreneurs.
