The Walter H. Carpenter Prize

In 1981, Babson established the Walter H. Carpenter Prize for Exceptional Contributions to Babson College.

This award was named for Walter Carpenter, former Professor of Industrial Relations, Chair of the Management Division, Dean of Faculty, and Vice President of Academic Affairs, and it is considered one of Babson’s most prestigious awards for a faculty or staff member.

Criteria

The prize is an annual award presented to an employee of the College who personifies those qualities, which were so characteristic of Walter:

  • A commitment to high standards in professional and personal life
  • Demonstrated outstanding service to the College for at least 10 years
  • Sensitivity and concern for students and colleagues
