Compliance Program

The mission of the Office of Compliance and the aim of the compliance program is to support the mission of the College by enhancing and maintaining an organizational structure that promotes a culture of ethical behavior and reduces the risk of non-compliance with applicable laws, regulations and College policies and procedures.

Through the compliance program and a network of compliance partners, the Office of Compliance collaborates with College policy owners to establish and maintain College policies; assists the compliance network partners to help them understand and fulfill their compliance obligations; and monitors and reports on the effectiveness of the controls of the College’s compliance program.

In addition, the Office of Compliance responds to detected and/or reported compliance matters and assists in the implementation of appropriate corrective action in collaboration with a network of compliance partners and College leadership. In general, our compliance program is comprised of our:

Office of Compliance

The Office of Compliance reports to the Office of the General Counsel and serves as a liaison to the Audit & Risk Committee of the Board of Trustees. The Office collaborates with and provides assistance to a network of compliance partners which includes employees who serve as subject matter experts in various areas.

Examples of our compliance network partners include: Human Resources, Information Technology, Financial Services, Financial Aid, Title IX, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Athletics, and Public Safety.

College Policies

This website maintains key institutional policies of the College to provide consistency and guidance regarding a range of College activities. Policies help the College and members of the College community to act in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and in a manner that supports the mission and core values of the College. Individual departments and divisions may host non-conflicting local policies and procedures on their own websites. Questions regarding these policies may be directed as provided in the individual policy or to the Compliance Office.

Compliance Awareness Training

Compliance awareness training and other educational efforts are directed toward the College community and are delivered in collaboration with the College’s compliance network partners, including Human Resources, Title IX Office, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.  Compliance awareness training and other educational efforts are intended to enhance understanding regarding regulatory and policy requirements that apply to College activities.

In addition, the Compliance Office is available to answer policy or compliance questions, assist in the avoidance of compliance risk, and provide guidance for specific situations.

Notification of awareness training opportunities  will generally be made through email to appropriate College community members.

Compliance Monitoring Program

Compliance monitoring is a key element of any compliance program. It is an ongoing process that consists of various forms of assessment of the controls of the compliance program and/or related data to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as the College’s policies and related procedures. The monitoring program includes follow-up on reported instances of non-compliance to ensure the College has taken corrective action(s) as appropriate.
