Fangchao Ji is a Ph.D. candidate in History at Brandeis University, specializing in Chinese history, Southeast Asian history, and European imperial history. He received his B.A. in Economics from China Agricultural University and University of Colorado Denver, an M.A. in Global Studies from Brandeis University, and an M.A. in History from Georgetown University. His research focuses on the intersections of Chinese migration, maritime networks, and European colonial expansion in nineteenth-century Southeast Asia. He has taught courses on East Asian civilizations at Brandeis University and currently teaches modern Chinese history and modern Japanese history at Babson College.
