Dear Babson Community,

For the 30th consecutive time, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Babson No. 1 in undergraduate entrepreneurship education. Few programs anywhere in higher education can match.

Babson built the academic discipline of entrepreneurship and relentlessly committed to creating new knowledge and enhanced pedagogy. Our approach has become the standard for higher education. Our entire community can take pride in this ranking.

Historically, U.S. News ranked us only for entrepreneurship. For the first time this year, Babson also was eligible to be ranked in other categories. We ranked No. 9 nationally for co-ops and internships and No. 1 overall for the region in its “Regional Universities: North” category. Additional regional recognition includes:

  • No. 1, Top Private Colleges (North)
  • No. 1, Best Value Schools (North)
  • No. 1, Most Innovative Schools (North)

These new rankings hold special significance. They reflect what has always been at the heart of a Babson education: the assertion that our students create value immediately, developing as entrepreneurial leaders through experiential learning who go on to impact communities everywhere.

Thirty times is worth celebrating, and it belongs to everyone in this community who has built, lived, and advanced this model. Thank you. I look forward to celebrating with you on campus in the weeks ahead.

Dear Babson Community,

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the countless families, friends, first responders, and communities forever changed.

Among them were three Babson alumni: Gordon M. Aamoth Jr. ’92, Neilie Anne Heffernan Casey MBA’02, and Erik H. Isbrandtsen ’94.

In remembering them and everyone lost that day, we also reflect on what followed: extraordinary courage, compassion, service, and unity. In the face of destruction, people instinctively began creating value through acts of generosity, sacrifice, and care for one another.

As we remember September 11, we are reminded that value creation is ultimately about people: how we support one another, respond to challenges, and contribute to the strength of our communities.

Please join me in remembering those we lost, honoring those who served, and reflecting on the values that continue to unite us.

Dear Babson Community,

Welcome to a new academic year! Whether you are returning to Babson or joining our community for the first time as a student, faculty member, or staff, welcome.

Throughout the summer, we welcomed visitors of all ages and our community remained active. Faculty and students remained engaged in teaching, learning, and research. Aspiring young entrepreneurs developed new skills and advanced their ideas through Summer at Babson, including the inaugural Arthur M. Blank School pre-college program and the longstanding Summer Venture Program. We launched the new Master of Science in Management in Business Creation, and the Executive Lodge and Conference Center continues to take shape. Together, these efforts reflect a community that is always learning, building, and creating opportunity.

At Babson, entrepreneurial leadership is grounded in values. Values-based entrepreneurial leadership is reflected in the choices we make every day, the way we engage with one another, and how we approach opportunities and challenges. Those choices shape our culture and strengthen Babson.

As I begin my final academic year as president, I encourage each of us to practice values-based entrepreneurial leadership in our classrooms, workplaces, teams, and communities. I invite you to consider your values and the impact you can have on those around you.

I wish each of you a productive and rewarding academic year. Your leadership is important. Together we create opportunities and bring our values to life.
