The Babson College Uniformed Patrol Division is the heart of our public safety operation. The division is composed of sworn Babson College Police Officers and non-sworn Community Service Officers who work together to provide law enforcement, emergency response, security, and communications services to the Babson community.
All Babson College Police Officers attend a full-time police academy approved by the Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) and complete the professional training and certification requirements established for police officers in the Commonwealth. Several members of our department also serve as instructors at regional police academies throughout Massachusetts, helping train and prepare the next generation of law enforcement professionals.
Babson College Police Officers exercise police authority through appointments and partnerships involving the Massachusetts State Police and the towns of Wellesley and Needham. Sworn members are appointed as special police officers in Wellesley and Needham and are certified by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission, which was established as part of the Commonwealth's 2020 police reform legislation.

Our Community Service Officers (CSOs) are full-time Public Safety professionals responsible for operating our Communications Center and performing essential security functions throughout campus. They play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the department and provide critical services to the College community. Community Service Officers complete eight weeks of professional in-house field training and participate in specialized public safety communications training through the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO).
The primary responsibility of the Uniformed Patrol Division is to respond to calls for service, reported criminal activity, medical emergencies, safety concerns, and other incidents affecting our community. Beyond emergency response, our officers and CSOs maintain a visible presence throughout campus and work every day to build relationships, solve problems, and create an environment where members of the Babson community can learn, work, live, and thrive.
