Emily Scherny leads core writing courses at Babson College. She also teaches first-year writing courses at Emerson College. A two-time Emerson alumna, she hopes to share her passion for learning and creativity by inspiring her students to celebrate their individual experiences and talents, amplifying their voices on and off the page. In addition to instructing young writers on research methodology and the essay as a prolific creative genre, she is a voracious reader and writer of fiction and nonfiction.
She is a staff writer for The Herald News, a USA Today Network publication. There, she covers daily news, investigative journalism, and exclusive features. In 2018, she began writing professionally as a news correspondent for the Fall River Herald News and The Taunton Daily Gazette. A story of hers was named a finalist for Glimmer Train's May/June Open Fiction Contest in 2017.
She holds a BFA and an MFA from Emerson College.
She is currently working on two novels and a collection of short stories.
