- Thinking and Acting AI, OIM7545: In this graduate elective course, we will engage in the thoughtful analysis and exploration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and their role in business and healthcare value creation, and organizational transformation. The course introduces students to artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, their value propositions in business, healthcare delivery, and medical practice, and their transformative potential for improving patient outcomes while ensuring responsible implementation. We will cover AI from machine learning to natural language processing to “deep learning,” and Large Language Models. We will address both the functions performed by these technologies and the business and health care issues that emerge from their adoption, including the evolving roles of physicians and healthcare professionals in AI-augmented care delivery, the ethical implications of AI in patient care and health equity, and the holistic redesign of the AI-enhanced healthcare organization.

The curriculum explores these topics through case examples from healthcare, digital health, and biotechnology organizations. Participants will select an area of opportunity within their work area and apply skills related to refining a problem definition, stakeholder values and analysis, ideation, and testing and evaluating the resultant solution.
