The Walter H. Carpenter Prize

Now Accepting Nominations

Nominate a member of the Babson community for the Carpenter prize.

In 1981, Babson established the Walter H. Carpenter Prize for Exceptional Contributions to Babson College.

This award was named for Walter Carpenter, former Professor of Industrial Relations, Chair of the Management Division, Dean of Faculty, and Vice President of Academic Affairs, and it is considered one of Babson’s most prestigious awards for a faculty or staff member.

As part of Babson’s Centennial Celebrations, we’d like to create the Centennial Carpenter Award to be given to one faculty and one staff member who embody what Walter Carpenter, and Babson, have stood for for the past 100 years.

  • Has made significant contributions in the areas of research, scholarship, and service that have served to promote the College (at the domestic and international levels)
  • Serves as an agent of change and collaborator (both at Babson and beyond)
  • Models the principles of ET&A
  • Lives and exhibits Babson’s values every day

Staff Criteria

  • Has been a staff member at Babson for at least 25 years
  • Has made significant contributions in multiple departments/areas over the course of their career
  • Has served in a role/roles with increasing impact across the organization
  • Serves as an agent of change and collaborator both at Babson and beyond
  • Models the principles of ET&A
  • Lives and exhibits Babson’s values every day

The award will be given at a campus-wide celebration in the fall (potentially early November).
