Drawing on a yearlong longitudinal field study on the impact of experiential entrepreneurship education, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship Eliana Crosina ’05, MBA’11 will share findings and implications that highlight the importance of thinking and acting in resilient ways as a critical aspect of an entrepreneurial mindset. In this latest session of the One Hour Entrepreneurship Webinar, Crosina will share how pedagogy coupled with students’ engagement facilitated students’ sensemaking of setbacks and challenges as well as how, over time, ongoing sensemaking contributed to the development of resilient behaviors and an entrepreneurial mindset.

An entrepreneurial mindset. The experts know it when we see it, but it's hard to define, and can be even harder to effectively teach! Because educators lack consensus on a clear definition and because there is no tool or scale to ensure a valid measure, we face ambiguity at best. But entrepreneurship thought leaders, like Andrew Corbett, at the forefront of research in this area, are working to create clarity by studying the duality of the entrepreneurial mindset. One orientation focused on finding and selecting potential solutions, the other focused on implementation and execution of these solutions.

Covid-19 has disrupted an entire generation’s educational opportunities. With 94% of youth out of school at some part of the pandemic and a third without access to online learning (UNICEF, 2021), this disrupted generation has experienced changes in how they live, learn, and engage with peers and adults.

To help our youth build a more equitable post-pandemic world, equal access to quality education is key, as outlined by the United Nations Sustainable Development Global Goals (Global Goals). The world needs more entrepreneurial leaders who see obstacles as opportunities, are strong and collaborative communicators, and have the agency to be changemakers. This process includes many challenges, including framing and writing the paper, preparing the manuscript, revising and seeking feedback on the manuscript, identifying the journal outlet, submitting and managing the review process. Expert research authors, Professor Candida Brush and Professor William Gartner, address those challenges and provide three tips that are helpful in managing the process. They also provide an overview of the Babson Fellows Program for Entrepreneurship Researchers. Program dates for 2021 to come.
