The following courses have been selected for employees by senior leadership at Pfizer to develop skills that can be applied directly to their work. Courses will also incorporate Pfizer business cases and scenarios to make content applicable and relevant to work situations.

  • Organizational Entrepreneurship, EPS7553: This course drives colleagues to uncover, develop, and put into practice Entrepreneurial Thought & Action (ET&A)--a Babson trademarked methodology that balances creativity, experimentation and action--regardless of the type of organization they are in. The tenets of the course are applicable in all organizations but there is an emphasis on becoming and being entrepreneurial inside a large existing organization like Pfizer. Colleagues will assess and develop their own entrepreneurial skills and learn how to apply them in their particular organizational setting.  The focus is on how to apply the concepts of ET&A and other frameworks in order to affect entrepreneurial outcomes in any organizational setting. Colleagues will benchmark from existing research within Fortune 500 companies, popular press books, case studies, mini-cases, videos, experiential exercises, business press articles, and other relevant material. (3 credits, MBA elective)

  • Negotiations, MOB7511: Explores formal and informal ways that business professionals negotiate with colleagues, supervisors, employees, clients, suppliers, competitors, and others. Examines research and concepts developed in a number of academic fields, and looks closely at personal skills and experiences. Requires intense involvement in negotiation simulation exercises, and thoughtful application of theory and research. (3 credits, MBA elective)

  • Entrepreneurial Leadership & Innovation, MBA7507: This course will go deep into the principles of innovation - disruptive, product (Agile), process (Lean), customer experience (Design Thinking), and business model innovations. Participants will learn how key tools like Agile, Lean and Design Thinking become the corner stone of innovation projects and processes that help teams to become more effective and help executives to build an innovation culture. Today, even the most conservative of industries are being pushed to transform themselves towards digital excellence. We will see several examples of firms that have gone through this transformation. Strategy, Innovation, and Culture are inseparable and they are the three key weapons of every entrepreneurial leader confronting ever increasing VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) environments. This course provides the participants a set of strong principles and common language for leading their teams and their enterprises through uncharted terrains. (3 credits, MBA elective)

  • Moonshots, STR7501: This course will provide Pfizer colleagues with a deeper understanding of how a strategic approach to "moonshot" innovations can solve significant societal challenges. We will explore several historical examples, focusing on the original and emergent strategies and technologies, the characteristics of successful teams, and the role of strategic problem solving. Today's world faces seemingly insurmountable challenges: a global pandemic, rapid climate change, and income inequality at the top of a growing list. Businesses have been faulted for contributing to these challenges, but are also looked upon as strategic partners in finding solutions. Understanding the strategies that organizations and individuals can apply in solving today's "moonshot" challenges requires us to deconstruct the strategic approaches of others who solved the seemingly insurmountable challenges of their day. This course will examine past moonshots to learn the strategies, innovations, and processes that enable teams to achieve what most thought impossible. We will also look at failed moonshot efforts and explore how businesses and entrepreneurs can avoid their fate as they apply their energy and efforts to address today's challenges. (3 credits, MBA elective)

For those who may not be familiar with the history of the Pfizer Corporate CAM Program, it began under Jon Tucker’s leadership, who was at the time the Site Leader of Pfizer Global Supply in Andover. Jon was looking for a program that would develop his colleagues, providing practical on-the-job tools while building a sense of camaraderie. The Pfizer Corporate CAM program was then co-created between Babson and Jon, and it flourished under his leadership, spanning across multiple Pfizer sites and enrolling more than 450 colleagues since 2017. At Jon's request, we also co-developed the Pfizer Corporate MBA Program in 2020.

Ben Tucker, son of Jon Tucker, was an athlete who loved to play Cricket in London, who coached tennis and loved people. After graduating from the University of Exeter, Ben found a successful career in banking. His attention to detail and his charming personality garnered him many friends and admirers. Ben’s life was cut short at just 27 years of age, but his memory will always live on.

The Babson College Ben Tucker Pfizer Corporate Scholarship was established in memory of Ben and to honor Jon for his vision in creating and supporting the Babson-Pfizer Corporate Programs. It will be allocated annually to some* Pfizer Corporate CAM graduates who join the Babson Part-Time Corporate MBA Program, in the spirit of lifelong learning.

*Scholarship approval subject to review each year

The vision of this program was to create a platform where colleagues could develop leadership and business skills--to create an environment where colleagues could learn from each other and work on current issues, and to create a learning environment which would be cost neutral and pave a pathway to future educational opportunities and growth. We accomplished that and more.
