Waku is a beverage company based in Boston, redefining the ready-to-drink category with a fresh, modern twist. Waku is the new generation of tea, bringing pop and fun to traditional herbal beverages. Same sweet, fruity taste, but with only 3-4 grams of sugar, 25-30 calories, and 5 grams of prebiotic fiber to maximize gut-healthy benefits! Since launching, Waku has grown rapidly, securing distribution in major retailers like Whole Foods Northeast, ShopRite, Caraluzzi’s, DeCicco’s, and C-Town. We have established our footprint in NYC, making Waku more accessible to tea lovers everywhere. Beyond retail, eCommerce is a key part of our business. Waku is available nationwide through Amazon and our website, with online wholesale options for businesses looking to stock our products. At Waku, we believe tea should be more than just a drink—it should be an experience. By blending tradition with modern functionality, we’re creating a beverage that is delicious, beneficial, and fun.
I’ve always been passionate about entrepreneurship and creating something with real impact. When Nico and I started Waku, we wanted to build a business that not only offered an amazing product but also made a difference in people’s lives—both for our customers and for the farmers in Ecuador. Growing up in Ecuador, we saw firsthand the incredible natural ingredients our country produces, but we also saw the challenges local farmers face. We knew we could create something special by combining the rich tradition of Andean herbal teas with a modern, functional twist. That’s how Waku was born—a tea that’s delicious, refreshing, and packed with gut-health benefits, while also supporting the communities that make it possible. For us, Waku is more than just a beverage—it’s a way to share our culture, uplift local farmers, and give people a better-for-you drink that actually tastes amazing. We’ve come a long way, but we’re just getting started.
