Refer a Student to CARE

We strive to foster a community of care at Babson. We envision a campus where all community members have a role to play in creating a learning environment that is conducive to students developing their fullest potential.

Submit a CARE Referral

Submitting a referral to Babson CARES is a way for us to proactively identify students who may be experiencing a challenge or concern that is having an impact on their success or wellbeing here at Babson. Reach out to the Care Team when you are concerned for a student, but do not believe they are in immediate danger. Care referrals are reviewed during the University’s normal business hours.

Emergency Situations on Campus

During an emergency, contact Public Safety by calling 781-239-5555 at any time. They will respond promptly and provide immediate help and support. After speaking with public safety, fill out a CARE referral.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Typically, students referred to the team have shown or expressed some kind of distress or change in behavior, either inside the classroom or in the broader community. We often work with students who may be struggling with stress of the academic year, a change in financial status, an illness or injury, the death of a loved one, the overall transition to college, or other personal concerns.

In short, if you are concerned about a student’s behavior or overall well-being, please submit a referral to the Care Team.

We encourage you to provide as many details as possible about the individual being referred (name, your relationship to the student) and examples of behavior that cause your concern (observable body language, repeated absences or lack of engagement, decline in performance, changes in character, and/or things the student may have disclosed or said to you personally). Please include the overall context of the report, whether a specific incident or conversation that occurred or an overall pattern of behaviors you’ve observed that prompted you to submit a referral. In addition, please include any referrals or advice you may have given to the student.

After a referral is submitted, a member of the CARE Team will be in touch usually within 1-2 business days. In their follow up, they may ask clarifying questions, offer support resources for the referring party, and can serve as a general resource to you should you have any questions or additional concerns. Please know that the Care Team is limited in the information we are able to share to the reporting party about our work with individual students due to our need to respect student privacy.

When appropriate, we encourage you to inform the student that you are submitting a referral on their behalf to help connect them to additional support.

We value transparency and, whenever possible, prefer that students know who referred them to our team. However, if you would prefer not to be identified as the referral source, please feel free to include that in your referral. The team will make every effort to keep your identity private.
