Children of War: New Work by Bayda Asbridge

This exhibit carries the voice of children trapped in war and displacement. A series of sculptures in the shape of umbrellas (a symbol of protection) hang from the ceiling or sit on the floor upside down collecting drops of rain. The sculptures are made with round reeds, and copper wires woven with colorful yarn. Water is symbolic throughout the piece, each umbrella highlighting different challenges for the children: A child that drowned while escaping in a dingy from one land to another, another who is forced to live in a tent flooded with sea water in the cold months of winter, another who has gone days with no water to drink at all. The vibrant primary colors and overall whimsy of the piece further highlights the children it represents.Bayda is a Syrian/British multi-disciplinary artist, who works in a wide range of mediums. Bayda was trained as an Asian Brush painter and taught that art form at Worcester Art Museum. She has vast knowledge in painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, Japanese weaving (Saori), mixed media, sculpture, installation, and basketry. Bayda was awarded the Frances Kinnicutt Travel & Study Award (2011) from Worcester Art Museum, a Mass Cultural Traditional Arts Award in Arabic Calligraphy (2021), and an individual artist grant from Mass Culture (2023). Meet the Author: Martha Niño - From a Shack to Silicon Valley

Don't miss this unique opportunity to meet Martha Niño, who will be delivering a TEDx Talk at Babson College. With over 25 years of experience in Silicon Valley and being one of only 2% of Latinas in her field, Martha is the author of "The Other Side: From a Shack to Silicon Valley," a powerful memoir that chronicles her transformation from poverty in central Mexico to breaking barriers in Silicon Valley. After her TEDx Talk, Martha will join us for an intimate conversation about her extraordinary path to success. Having spent almost two decades at Adobe, where she serves as a Senior Leader in Strategic Partnerships, Martha's story gained momentum following a transformative keynote speech that led to her authoring her powerful memoir and establishing the Martha Niño Foundation in 2023. In this special presentation, Martha will share: - Her remarkable journey from undocumented immigrant to Silicon Valley leader - The importance of mentorship and having "believers" who open doors - How one job can break the cycle of poverty - The power of storytelling in creating change - Lessons learned along her path to success Praised by Apple Pioneer Guy Kawasaki as being "as compelling and inspirational" as Jane Goodall and Steve Wozniak, Martha's message of hope resonates deeply with audiences. Through her foundation's work, speaking engagements, and collaboration with Book Fairies, she has helped distribute thousands of books to empower young individuals with her message of hope. Join us for an evening of inspiration as Martha shares her powerful message of hope, help, hustle, and heart, proving that the impossible is indeed possible. Find out more Green Chevron

Why Everything You've Been Taught About Selling is Wrong

Most sales training is based on outdated, pushy, and ineffective tactics that buyers hate. If you’re still cold-calling, hard-closing, or spamming prospects, you’re not just annoying them—you’re killing your own success. In this eye-opening session, sales transformation expert Peter Strohkorb will shatter the myths of traditional selling and show you how to thrive in a world where buyers are in control. If you’re ready to unlearn the old ways and master the new rules of modern sales, this is the session you can’t afford to miss. Warning: This session is NOT for those who love the “always be closing” mantra. It’s for those who want to create real value and win deals without the sleaze. Find out more Green Chevron
