White Hot: The Rise And Fall Of Abercrombie & Fitch
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Carling-Sorenson Theatre , Sorenson Center for the Arts, Babson College , Babson College, 231 Forest Street, Babson Park, MA 02457
Abercrombie & Fitch conquered malls in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s with gorgeous models, pulsing dance beats and a fierce scent. But the company’s “all-American” image shattered as its problematic marketing and hiring practices came to light. Directed by Alison Klayman, the documentary White Hot: The Rise And Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch uses primary source interviews, advertising images, and legal documents to both explore the brand’s pop-culture dominance and reveal the many fissures that bloomed into outright cracks. The panel to follow will feature a discussion and Q&A with Babson faculty members Anjali Bal (Marketing), Mahdi Majbouri (Economics), Kerry Rourke (Arts & Humanities) and Jonathan Sims (Management). It will be moderated by Professor Michele Kerrigan (Management). Co-Sponsored by the Management Division and Arts & Humanities Division Due to screening rights, this event is open to members of the Babson community only. Find out more -

Babson Academy One Hour Entrepreneurship Educator Webinar Series: An Entrepreneurial Mindset. You know when you see it, but can you define it?
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Online
How do we teach students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset, when even the experts don't agree on how we define it. Description: An entrepreneurial mindset. The experts know it when we see it, but it's hard to define, and can be even harder to effectively teach! Because educators lack consensus on a clear definition and because there is no tool or scale to ensure a valid measure, we face ambiguity at best. But entrepreneurship thought leaders, like Andrew Corbett, at the forefront of research in this area, are working to create clarity by studying the duality of the entrepreneurial mindset. One orientation focused on finding and selecting potential solutions, the other focused on implementation and execution of these solutions. Join us on March 29, 2023 at 9:00am ET as we kick off Babson Academy's 2023 One Hour Entrepreneurship Webinar Series with Andrew Corbett taking a closer look at the role this duality plays in moving forward the field's understanding of this elusive concept. Andrew will look at how successful entrepreneurs cycle between these two orientations to learn about their nascent opportunity and to continue to move it forward. He will help educators evolve their teaching around an understanding that the mindset is not fixed, but dual in nature as it shifts between elaboration and implementation as the entrepreneur learns.
