Three colleges among the best in their fields, Babson College in entrepreneurship, Olin College of Engineering in engineering, and Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in industrial design, will sponsor the Undergraduate Product Design Final Presentations 2011, featuring the efforts of a semester-long joint teaching effort by the three institutions.

On Thursday, December 15, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., at Rhode Island School of Design, Room 300 in the ID Building (161 South Main Street, Providence, RI), six interdisciplinary teams of undergraduate students from Babson, Olin College of Engineering, and RISD will present their new product concepts in six consecutive presentations.

Their creative concepts include:

•         A set of accessories that make life easier when on crutches
•         Desk-related furniture for student’s small living spaces
•         A new device empowering children to take an active role in managing their asthma
•         A new wireless headphone set for runners

The teams developed their designs during the joint three-school undergraduate course in Product Design and Development in Interdisciplinary Teams (MOB-3578 at Babson, ENGR3299 at Olin, Babson-Olin Studio at RISD).

Faculty teaching the course include Sebastian Fixson (Babson), Ozgur Eris (Olin) and Matt Kressy (RISD).
