Good Business Friday: Giving Voice to Values

    Register Full Details

What might our businesses and our world look like if more of us could voice and act on our values effectively? Join our conversation. What might our businesses and our world look like if more of us felt empowered and were skillful and practiced enough to voice and act on our values effectively? What if we could learn the skills and tools needed to act on our values in an authentic and results-oriented way?Join our conversation on Zoom(Meeting details will be provided in the registration confirmation email.)Whether you are a business leader, employee, or practitioner in another field, how can you effectively stand up for your values when pressured by your boss, colleagues, customers, or shareholders to do the opposite? Despite all the internal and external pressures surrounding ethical decision-making, some people do effectively voice and act on their values. So what makes them effective? What do they do differently?Much like athletes who practice and prepare their bodies to bolster their chances of success, those who voice their values in the workplace often rehearse different scenarios and script their conversations in advance. They practice what they would say out loud building a sort of ethical muscle memory, ready to face future ethical dilemmas.Join Mary Gentile, Senior Fellow in Social Innovation at The Lewis Institute, Darden School of Business Professor, and founder of Giving Voice to Values (GVV), as she shares concrete examples of how companies, governments, educational institutions, and individuals have used the GVV approach to effectively shift from ethical analysis to ethical implementation. And she will help us explore the key questions: What if I were going to act on my values? What would I say and do? How could I be most effective?About Good Business FridayGood Business Fridays are open conversations around what it means to lead a good business. How can we create economic and social value simultaneously, regardless of what sector or role were in? How do we solve problems as complex as the UN Global Goals? As with all of our Uncommon Table conversations, come when you can, stay as long as youd like. All are welcome. Find out more >>
