Professor Kovacs earned his B.S. degree in Finance and Economics at Babson College, an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business with concentrations in Finance and Accounting, and his Ph.D. from Columbia University in Accounting. During his professional career, he has worked in equity research at JPMorgan, performed consulting and auditing services at PwC, and worked for 15 years in economic consulting for the Analysis Group and his own firm. Prior to joining Bryant University in 2018, he was on the accounting faculty at California State University – Long Beach and is now teaching at Babson College. His primary teaching interests include financial accounting, financial statement analysis, and other finance-related topics. His other teaching experience covers several different audiences including Harvard Law School; Columbia MBA and Executive programs; Major Law Firms; and Corporate Staff.

Academic Interest / Expertise

Professor Kovacs' research interests include intangible assets, corporate payout strategy, revenue recognition, financial statement analysis, analyst estimates, financial instruments, capital markets, and tax policy.
