Position Overview

Tech Ambassadors are student representatives who help advance the Metropoulos Institute's mission across one of three primary vectors: education, research, or innovation. Each Ambassador specializes in a specific technology domain (Industrial AI, WealthTech, FemTech, FinTech, HealthTech, CleanTech, Cybersecurity, QuantumTech, Materials Tech, etc.) and serves as a bridge between the Institute, the student body, faculty, and industry partners. All Tech Ambassadors will liaise with relevant Babson student clubs and organizations (such as the AI Club, Babson Acceleration Club (BAC), The Generator, E-Tower, and others) to ensure strong connections between the Metropoulos Institute and the broader student innovation ecosystem.

Vectors

Ambassadors will be assigned to one of the following focus areas:

  • Education Vector
    • Support curriculum development in emerging technologies
    • Assist faculty with tech course materials and demonstrations
    • Facilitate student workshops and tech literacy programs
    • Develop educational resources for the Babson community
  • Research Vector
    • Support faculty research initiatives in assigned technology domain
    • Assist with data collection, analysis, and visualization
    • Help prepare research publications and presentations
    • Collaborate on industry-sponsored research projects
  • Innovation Vector
    • Support startup incubation and acceleration activities
    • Assist with buildathons, hackathons, and tech competitions
    • Help evaluate new technologies for potential application
    • Support IP strategy and commercialization initiatives
Program Assignments

In addition to vector assignments, several Tech Ambassadors will be specifically attached to key Metropoulos Institute initiatives: 

  • Babson Tech 10 Accelerator Program: A minimum of 3 student Ambassadors will support this flagship accelerator program, assisting with cohort selection, program development, mentorship coordination, and event management.
  • AI Stack Project: One dedicated Ambassador will focus on AI Stack benchmarking, documentation, assessment, and implementation recommendations for enterprise applications.
  • Tech Entrepreneurship R&D: One Ambassador will concentrate on producing industry reports, op-eds, benchmarking studies, writing for managerial journals, and supporting potential spinout activities.
  • Tech Entrepreneur in Residence Program: One Ambassador will directly support the Entrepreneur(s) in Residence, assisting with their initiatives, connecting them to campus resources, and helping coordinate their engagement with students.
  • Tech Scholarship Program: One Ambassador will help administer Metropoulos Institute's scholarship programs, including application review, scholar engagement activities, and program assessment.
  • Agentic AI Engineering: One Ambassador will serve as resident Agentic AI Engineer, providing technical support to the two Entrepreneurs in Residence with the same scope and the Babson Tech 10 Accelerator program participants.
  • Corporate Program Support: One Ambassador will be dedicated to supporting the Corporate Program associated with the Babson Tech 10 Accelerator, facilitating corporate engagement, partnership development, and program coordination.
  • Babson Distributed AI Lab (BDAIL): One Ambassador will be tasked with the buildout and administration of the Babson Distributed AI Lab, supporting its operations, equipment maintenance, user training, and project oversight.
  • Industrial AI Foundry: One Ambassador will help with the design and fundraising efforts for the Industrial AI Foundry, an extension of the Weissman Foundry that will include biotech labs suitable for faculty and student innovators in AI-enabled biotech and synthetic biology.
  • Tech Ambassador Program Management: One Ambassador (preferably a returning ambassador with program experience) will be responsible for managing the Tech Ambassador program itself, including recruitment, onboarding, team coordination, knowledge transfer, and ensuring program continuity across academic years.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead strategic initiatives within assigned Metropoulos Institute vector
  • Develop and maintain industry partnerships
  • Design and implement technology workshops and demonstrations
  • Coordinate major Metropoulos Institute events and programs
  • Supervise and mentor junior Ambassadors
  • Contribute to Metropoulos Institute's strategic planning and program development
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled Babson senior (minimum 12 credit hours)
  • Substantial experience in assigned technology domain
  • Prior leadership experience in student organizations or initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects
  • Professional communication and presentation skills
  • Established industry connections in relevant technology sector
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with multiple technology domains within the Metropoulos Institute's focus areas
  • Prior involvement with entrepreneurial ventures or startups
  • Experience with event planning and management
  • Public speaking and presentation experience
  • Content creation skills (writing, video, design)
  • Knowledge of current trends in assigned technology domain

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to transport and set up demonstration equipment (up to 25 pounds)

Work Schedule
  • Flexible scheduling based on academic commitments 
  • Some evening and weekend availability required for events
