HELV Operations Document

General Overview Summer 2024

The Herring Family Entrepreneurial Leadership Village will be open this summer.

Construction in Woodside Residence Hall (attached to the HELV) will begin on Monday, May 13, 2024, and is expected to continue until August 2, 2024. Additionally, this phase will include:

• the repaving of Snyder Drive along with a slight reconfiguration of the island in that loop
• a complete window replacement in the Co-Curricular lounge (ground floor, below the Global Outreach Studio)

Due to project timelines, please expect construction personnel on campus near the HELV Monday–Saturday; interior work will take place from 6 a.m.–11 p.m.; and exterior work will typically be from 7 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

The Main Entrance of the HELV will remain open throughout this time however there will be shifts to the accessible pathway to the front entrance based on which side of the circle is being worked on.

A temporary side entrance, on the athletic field side of the building, is being activated for guests/​attendees arriving via coach, ride share, or those that may need extra assistance. Directional signage will be added near the parking garage, near the fork in road towards the HELV, and at the temporary side entrance as well.

Parking will continue to be available in the Parking Garage and Woodside lot.

HELV Spaces

The new HELV spaces are available this summer for Babson community member use and will be added to EMS shortly. If you are interested in reserving a space, please reach out directly to Kallan Lock-Durken or Ava Mullin.

Please note the Village Coffee House, automated dining (Costa Coffee & Farmer’s Fridge), Co-Curricular Lounge (ground level), and printing release station are currently closed and will re-open this August.

Access & Hours

• Access to the HELV for all community members for Summer 2024 is via the front door of the building, located on Snyder Drive.
• The HELV is open 24/7, with a OneCard required for swipe access between the hours of 2–6 a.m.
• Classroom access, when not in use, is between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.

HELV Facilities & Amenities Entry Level

• Lobby
• Cafe Seating Area (Cafe will be closed until late August)
• Village Coffee House Front Patio
  • Access to the patio is available from the door located in the cafe seating area and from the door in the Lobby. These doors are locked between the hours of 2–6 a.m. and can be entered via OneCard swipe access during these times.
  • Noise should be kept at a minimum when utilizing the patio area.

Global Outreach Studio

Lower Level

• Co-Curricular Lounge with 2 Study Rooms and a Pod will be closed until mid-August for window replacement
• Patios
  • Co-Curricular Lounge Patio will be closed for construction until mid-August
  • Large Patio between Classrooms: Access from 7 a.m.–10 p.m. OneCard swipe access to enter building between 10 p.m.–7 a.m.
  • Noise should be kept at a minimum when utilizing the patio area
• Rullo, Lorber, and DiMatteo classrooms available for events and meetings when not in use
  • Collaboration/Break Out Spaces between the Lorber and Rullo classrooms
  • Automated Dining Options are closed until mid-August

Executive Conference Center and Hotel

The following spaces within the HELV (Conference Center and Hotel) are not accessible for students.

  • 15-minute spaces in front of building
