Student Consulting Projects

As the leading educator in Entrepreneurship of All Kinds®, we shape the leaders our world needs most through real-world business experience and action-based learning.

Leveraging Babson’s extensive global network of employers, educators, friends, and alumni, Babson students engage in business opportunities that strengthen their abilities to envision and navigate change, understand global perspectives, and motivate teams in common purpose to create economic and social value.

Management Consulting Field Experience

The Management Consulting Field Experience (MCFE) offers students the opportunity to gain practical industry experience while working with professionals in the business community. MCFE projects involve teams of three to five student consultants led and managed by an MBA student who serves as the project manager. These projects are with both profit and nonprofit organizations, and  The Shelby Cullum Davis Entrepreneurship Award is granted to the most successful MCFE for a nonprofit organization.

The MCFE program connects Boston-area organizations with talented Babson students who work as consultants to address a current business challenge. Students gain valuable experience while providing your organization with creativity, insights, and results. Current students may apply through the Hub.

The Shelby Cullom Davis Entrepreneurship Prize

The Shelby Cullom Davis Foundation provided an endowment to Babson College to encourage the application of entrepreneurship to nonprofit organizations. The foundation, established in 1962, is named for the late Shelby Cullom Davis, former United States ambassador to Switzerland, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and chairman of the oldest and largest company specializing in insurance securities.

The endowment funds the Shelby Cullom Davis Entrepreneurship Prizes. Cash awards are presented annually at Babson’s Family and Friends Weekend to the top undergraduate student teams that complete the most successful Management Consulting Field Experience (MCFE) for a nonprofit organization. The MCFE program provides an opportunity for students to implement business practices learned in the classroom in challenging, real-world consulting projects for a sponsor company. Student winners are selected based on their entrepreneurial thinking, teamwork, creativity, business skills, and dedication.
