Alumni | Babson Alumni Advisory Board

The Babson Alumni Advisory Board, working collaboratively with the Office of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving (AEAG), strives to engage alumni, parents, and friends in meaningful ways that foster mutually beneficial lifelong relationships that advance the reputation of Babson around the world.

The Babson Alumni Advisory Board is led by a Chair. Additional leadership roles include Vice Chair of Alumni Engagement and Communications, Vice Chair of Fundraising, Vice Chair of Administration, and Past Chair. Each BAAB member serves a one-, two-, or three-year term. The current term commenced on July 1, 2023.

BAAB members’ responsibilities include the following:

  • Participate in BAAB meetings.
  • Attend events and programs in member region. Attendance at events and programs in other regions is encouraged.
  • Support the College philanthropically with a recurring, annual gift to Babson.
  • Provide timely feedback on alumni engagement activities and initiatives (e.g. mentoring platform, alumni satisfaction survey, etc.)
  • Support alumni activities, including but not limited to regional clubs and affinity groups, through their events and programs, new volunteer training, and club/group development.
  • Promote and support select Center programs and activities.
  • Take an active role in fundraising campaigns, e.g. Make Your Mark, Barefoot Challenge, etc.

BAAB members serving in leadership roles have additional responsibilities:

Chair:

  • Serve as primary liaison to the Office of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, participating in weekly meetings with the Assistant Vice President, Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving.
  • Serve on the Babson Board of Trustees (per the Trustee by-laws).
  • Convene and facilitate all BAAB meetings.
  • Participate in monthly Executive Committee meetings.
  • Ensure all BAAB members actively participate and contribute.

Vice Chair, Alumni Engagement and Communications

  • Liaise with the Assistant Vice President, Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, in support of regional, affinity, and reunion activities and initiatives as well as Center programs, including but not limited to BETA Challenge. Specific activities and initiatives may vary year to year or semester to semester
  • Participate in monthly Executive Committee meetings and planning meetings with the Assistant Vice President, Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving and the Senior Director, Advancement Communications.
  • Lend marketing expertise to the Advancement Division/Advancement Communications, e.g. Babson website, social media campaigns, alumni communications, etc.
  • Report on upcoming College and Advancement marketing initiatives and serve as a resource to other alumni organizations.

Vice Chair, Fundraising:

  • Liaise with the Director, Annual Giving in support of fundraising campaigns and activities.
  • Take a leadership role in fundraising campaigns, e.g. Make Your Mark, Barefoot Challenge, Days of Giving, etc.
  • Report on proposed fundraising activities at BAAB meetings and motivate members of the board to actively participate in campaigns.
  • Participate in monthly Executive Committee meetings and planning meetings with the Assistant Vice President, Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving.

Vice Chair, Administration:

  • Ensure BAAB members are seeing financial, fundraising, scholarship, and engagement data to help inform decisions.
  • Submit periodical financial position (monthly/quarterly) to Executive Committee at Board meetings.
  • Recommend options for deployment of funds to the Board at large.
  • Look for opportunities to increase BAAB funds.
  • Lead conversations with Student Financial Services and make recommendations to the BAAB regarding scholarships.
  • Approve BAAB members’ travel expenses, if applicable.
  • Record and distribute meetings and rolls at meetings.
  • Maintain all BAAB records.
  • Oversee membership list and track BAAB members’ terms.
  • Publish scheduled meetings and send invitations and reminder to BAAB members.
  • Participate in monthly Executive Team meetings.

Past Chair:

  • Assist with onboarding new BAAB members.
  • Participate in monthly Executive Team meetings.
