Graduation Information

» The Class of 2020 Commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021.

» The Class of 2021 Commencement ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021.

Babson certifies and issues degrees and certificates three times each year: May, August, and December. Information on degree and certificate requirements, graduation requirements, and Latin honors is included below. Information about the May Commencement ceremony is available on the Commencement website.

Degree and Certificate Requirements

Bachelor of Science (BS)

Students admitted as of Fall 2017 must earn a minimum of 130 credits and attain a minimum 2.00 cumulative grade point average on credits earned at Babson.

Students admitted as of Fall 2013 must earn a minimum of 131 credits and attain a minimum 2.00 cumulative grade point average on credits earned at Babson.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Students must complete all degree requirements, including successfully earning a minimum of 45 credits in the One-Year, Two-Year, Blended Learning, Evening, and Part-Time Programs or a minimum of 46 credits in the Blended Learning Miami program. All students must attain a minimum 2.80 cumulative grade point average on all credit earned at Babson.  Required credits may vary for students admitted under prior curriculum structures.

Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA)

Students must complete all degree requirements, including successfully earning a minimum of 30 credits and attaining a minimum 2.80 cumulative grade point average on all credit earned at Babson.

Master of Science in Finance (MSF)

Students must complete all degree requirements, including successfully earning a minimum of 30 credits and attaining a minimum 2.80 cumulative grade point average on all credit earned at Babson.

Master of Science in Management in Advanced Entrepreneurial Leadership (MSAEL)

Students must complete all degree requirements, including successfully earning a minimum of 30 credits and attaining a minimum 2.80 cumulative grade point average on all credit earned at Babson.

Master of Science in Management in Entrepreneurial Leadership (MSEL)

Students must complete all degree requirements, including successfully earning a minimum of 30 credits and attaining a minimum 2.80 cumulative grade point average on all credit earned at Babson.

Certificate in Advanced Management (CAM)

Students must complete all certificate requirements, including successfully earning a minimum of 9 credits and attaining a minimum 2.80 cumulative grade point average.

For graduate students, a degree or certificate will be granted to a student in the semester in which all academic course requirements have been met and where the student is in good standing in all respects. Any course work completed after the semester in which a student earns a degree or certificate will be considered post-graduate work.​​

Graduation Requirements

All graduating students should:

  1. Complete an Application for Degree. The Application for Degree allows you to enter your name as you want it printed on your diploma, the phonetic spelling/pronunciation of your diploma name, and your anticipated graduation/completion date.  The deadline to complete the Application for Degree is listed below. If the Application for Degree is not submitted by the appropriate deadline, the name on your diploma will be printed exactly as it appears on your academic record. Once you submit your App for Degree, you should expect to see “Your information has been saved.” You will not receive a confirmation email. If the direct link doesn't work, please see the "Application for Degree" section on the Registrar's Office Student Portal page.
  2. Verify/update your current home mailing address in Workday.  Please make sure you specifically update or verify your "Home Mailing" address.  Home Mailing Address Update Instructions.
  3. Complete degree or certificate requirements. All of your degree or certificate requirements must be completed and graded by the deadline noted below.

If you have any outstanding obligations due to the College, such as a balance due, you will not receive your diploma until these obligations are cleared.

Commencement Ceremony

Commencement exercises for the Classes of 2020 and 2021 will be held virtually on Saturday, May 8, 2021 and Saturday, May 15, 2021 respectively.

The Class of 2020 ceremony will celebrate students who graduated from a degree program in May 2020, December 2019, or August 2019.

The Class of 2021 ceremony will celebrate students who graduated from a degree program in May 2021, December 2020, or August 2020 as well as students expected to complete their degree requirements in *August 2021.

*If you intend to be an Undergraduate August 2021 graduate, but have not declared intent with your Student Success Advisor, the deadline is March 31st, 2021. Any student who joins the August 21’ list after this date will not have their name read in the virtual ceremony or be included in the Commencement program.

*If you intend to be a Graduate School August 2021 graduate and wish to participate in the 2021 Commencement ceremony, you must register for your remaining degree requirements and complete an Application for Degree by March 31st, 2021. Any student who registers for their remaining degree requirements after this date will not have their name read in the virtual ceremony or be included in the Commencement program.

The undergraduate commencement walker policy is being suspended this year as it is a virtual ceremony. December 2021 graduates will be invited to participate in the May 2022 commencement ceremony.

Graduate School students who graduate in August 2021 or December 2021 will also be invited to participate in the May 2022 Commencement ceremony.

Certificate students are not eligible to participate in the Commencement ceremony.

Latin Honors

Undergraduate Latin Honors

Undergraduate Latin honors are awarded upon graduation and based on the student’s cumulative grade point average (GPA). The current undergraduate honors ranges are:

  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.75 to 4.00
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.50 to 3.74
  • Cum Laude: 3.30 to 3.49

Graduate Latin Honors

Effective August 2020, Graduate School Latin honors are awarded upon graduation and based on the student's cumulative grade point average (GPA). Effective August 2020, the Latin honors ranges are as follows:

  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.80 to 4.00
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.70 to 3.79
  • Cum Laude: 3.60 to 3.69
