VA Education Programs
You may be entitled to receive benefits under a particular VA education program, as determined by the VA.
- Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33)
- Veteran Readiness and Employment (formerly called Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) - for Veterans with Service-Connected Disabilities (VR&E, Chapter 31)
- Montgomery GI Bill® - Active Duty (MGIB-AD, Chapter 30)
- Veterans’ Educational Assistance Program (VEAP, Chapter 32)
- Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA, Chapter 35)
- Montgomery GI Bill® - Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR, Chapter 1606)
- Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP, Chapter 1607)
Applying for VA Education Benefits
You must apply for education benefits through the VA. Upon review of your application, the VA will determine eligibility and, if eligible, will issue a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). You must submit a copy of the COE to the Babson College VA Certifying Official once admitted into a VA approved program at Babson. You do not need to submit a COE each semester. A new COE only needs to be submitted if your eligibility information (chapter, percent eligibility, overall months of eligibility) changes.
If you are applying for the VA VR&E program (Chapter 31), you must also apply through the VR&E division of the VA. A VR&E counselor will contact Babson if you are approved for this benefit. You do not need to submit a COE.

VA Education Benefits
Veteran Readiness and Employment (formerly called Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment)
- Paid up to the full cost of the program.
- Payment is sent directly to Babson.
Montgomery GI Bill®-Active Duty, Veterans’ Educational Assistance Program, Dependents Educational Assistance/Survivors and Dependents, Montgomery GI Bill®-Selected Reserve, or Reserve Educational Assistance Program
- Paid a monthly rate. Rate may be based on VA education program, length of service, institutional training time, etc.
- Payment is sent to you.
Post-9/11 GI Bill®
The Post-9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33) became effective on August 1, 2009 and was modified in January of 2011 with provisions taking effect over the subsequent months.
- Receive a percentage of benefits based on your length of service (benefit level/percent eligibility).

Consists of the following payments, as eligible:
1. Tuition and fees reimbursement payment
- For private colleges, capped at the lesser of net out-of-pocket costs or the maximum VA tuition and fees cap per academic year (see below).

2. Books and supplies stipend
- Up to $1,000.00 per academic year.

- Rate of pursuit must be greater than 50%.
- Active duty members and their spouses are not eligible; children of service members may be eligible.
- Prorated based on your rate of pursuit (rounded to the nearest multiple of 10) and based on your benefit level.
- Paid in arrears and usually at the start of the the month.

4. Yellow ribbon program
- Provision under Post-9/11 GI Bill® that allows colleges to voluntarily enter into an annual agreement with the VA to fund tuition and fees costs that exceed the VA tuition and fees reimbursement payment.
- Your benefit level must be 100%.
- Active duty members and their spouses (if transfer of entitlement) whose benefit level is 100% are eligible for Yellow Ribbon effective August 1, 2022.
- Award may be up to 50% of unmet charges.
- VA will match the College contribution.
- Combined Babson and VA contribution cannot exceed your net tuition and fee semester charges.
- Subject to a maximum annual contribution and maximum number of students determined by the College each academic year.

- A Babson Yellow Ribbon award for the fall semester may be capped at $5,000.00.
- Limited availability and not guaranteed.
- Admission into the Yellow Ribbon Program at Babson is on a first-come-first-served basis upon receipt of a Certificate of Eligibility (COE), a Babson Yellow Ribbon Program Application (pdf), and acceptance into an approved Babson program - up to the maximum number of students for whom contributions will be made in any given academic year.
- You must follow the policies, procedures, and guidelines as established.
- Payment is sent to Babson.
- Babson College reserves the right to discontinue participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program at any point.
Reminder: Tuition and fee charges may not be covered in full by the VA.
VA Approved Programs/Locations
The following Babson programs are currently approved for VA benefits for the Wellesley (Babson Park) and Boston locations:

- BSBA, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
- MBA, Master of Business Administration – One-Year Program
- MBA, Master of Business Administration – Two-Year Program
- MBA, Master of Business Administration – Part-Time Program

- MSBA, Master of Science in Business Analytics
- MSAEL, Master of Science in Management in Advanced Entrepreneurial Leadership
- MSF, Master of Science in Finance
- MSEL, Master of Science in Management in Entrepreneurial Leadership (note: the "MSM6110 Global Entrepreneurship Experience" course may not be covered by the VA)
Students cannot use VA benefits for the following programs/campuses as the San Francisco, Miami, and Pfizer campus locations are not approved by the appropriate SAA/VA agency:
- MBA, Master of Business Administration – Blended Learning Program / Campus: Miami
- MBA, Master of Business Administration – Blended Learning Program / Campus: San Francisco
- MBA, Master of Business Administration – Blended Learning Program (Pfizer Corporate MBA) / Campus: Pfizer Inc.
- MSBA, Master of Science in Business Analytics / Campus: Miami
Students cannot use VA benefits for the CAM, Certificate in Advanced Management program, effective summer 2020 admits.
Students cannot use VA benefits for Babson Executive Education courses or programs.
Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018
As part of the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018, section 3679 of title 38, the following policies apply to any individual (“covered individual”) who is entitled to educational assistance under Chapter 31, Veteran Readiness and Employment, or Chapter 33, Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits.
- The College will permit any covered individual to attend or participate in the course of education during the period beginning on the date on which the individual provides to the College a certificate of eligibility for entitlement to educational assistance under Chapter 31 or 33 (a “certificate of eligibility” can also include a “Statement of Benefits” obtained from the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) website – eBenefits, or a VAF 28-1905 form for Chapter 31 authorization purposes) and ending on the earlier of the following dates:
- The date on which payment from VA is made to the College.
- 90 days after the date the College certified tuition and fees following the receipt of the certificate of eligibility.
- The College will not impose any penalty, including the assessment of late fees, the denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a covered individual borrow additional funds, on any covered individual because of the individual’s inability to meet his or her financial obligations to the College due to the delayed disbursement funding from VA under Chapter 31 or 33.
- The College may request or require Chapter 31 and Chapter 33 students to take the following actions:
- Submit a certificate of eligibility for entitlement to educational assistance no later than the first day of a course of education.
- Submit a written request to use such entitlement.
- Provide additional information necessary to the proper certification of enrollment by the College.
- Additional payment may be required or a fee may be imposed for the amount that is the difference between the amount of the student’s financial obligation and the amount of the VA education benefit disbursement.
