Community Engagement

Community Engagement

We are committed to incorporating sustainability into the Babson experience for our students, faculty and staff.

Our vibrant campus culture, driven by community member-led initiatives, clubs, and events, fosters environmental awareness and responsible consumption. Under the guidance of the Institute for Social Innovation’s Josh Stevenson, we are also leveraging our community network to enhance engagement and support for student-led sustainability projects and startups.

Sustainability Intern Program

The Sustainability Intern Program is a paid student position that combines campus action and outreach with leadership and professional development. From the start of the program, students are trained to become sustainability entrepreneurs in a large organization.

Interns will work on a combination of:

  • Managing events and programs, such as the annual Sustainability Fair
  • Marketing and Outreach, such as presenting to classes
  • Connecting with Babson staff members and faculty to partner on common sustainability goals
  • Individual or group campus sustainability projects

Each intern is expected to actively promote Sustainability at Babson through outreach and engagement, especially through working at campus events.

The Sustainability Intern program provides a dynamic work environment that includes both collaborative work and independent, self-directed work. Interns are expected to generate, evaluate, and execute new ideas and solutions for Sustainability at Babson. On average, interns work 4–7 hours per week, and are expected to participate in the weekly team meeting. The contact point for Sustainability Interns is Josh Stevenson.

Sustainability Employee Resource Group

The Sustainability ERG provides a social space for staff and faculty who are passionate, or would like to know more, about social and environmental sustainability. Members of this group are able to share resources, exchange ideas, and help support Babson’s ongoing sustainability efforts. The group collaborates with Babson's Sustainability Office to support and plan community events.

At Babson, we are committed to integrating social and environmental sustainability concepts into the education of the world’s next generation of business leaders. In addition, we are an innovative sustainability leader informing, engaging and exciting our students, staff, and faculty around sustainability as a community value. Therefore, we seek to attract and retain employees who are aligned with these values. Specifically, those who can demonstrate consistency in sustainability practices in the workplace including resource usage, recycling actions and waste reduction. We seek individuals who will acquire knowledge regarding the impacts of our behaviors in the environment and who will maintain their sustainability citizenship within the Babson community.
