International Consulting Experience for Client Companies
About the International Consulting Experience
The International Consulting Experience takes the consulting experience global by providing three to four student teams with the opportunity to work on project assignments with international corporate sponsors. The program begins with pre-departure sessions focused on consulting methodology and intercultural competencies during the fall semester. Travel to the company site will take place during the winter break, at which time students will develop the engagement contract and begin on-site primary research. Project work will be completed during the spring semester ending with the team presenting their findings and recommendations to their sponsor company in a written report and an oral presentation.
The International Consulting Experience offers significant benefits to client companies, including:
- Action-oriented student teams focused on researching, evaluating, and analyzing a cited business issue
- Experienced Babson College faculty member to coach and advise the student team
- A formal final presentation and written report of analysis and recommendations
Projects deal with current concerns of sponsor organizations in one or more functional areas, such as:
- Marketing plan development
- Marketing strategy/analysis
- Industry analysis
- Business development
- Benchmark/Competitive analysis
- Internet-related projects
Below are a list of project scopes from previous International Consulting Experiences:

Identify which of the trends have impact on each step of the value chain. Evaluate what will prevail in the future and determine what that will mean for Company B. End deliverable desired: Two recommendations of where company B should put their focus, and develop a business case in more detail.

Babson College will plan the logistics for student and faculty travel. The company project contact must be available during the time of the team’s visit which is typically one week in length, and is expected to facilitate opportunities for the team to visit the company facilities, to meet with key constituents/customers and to understand the organization culture.
