Academic year and semester applicants must:

  • Have a minimum 2.50 cumulative Babson grade point average (GPA) at the time of application
    • If your cumulative GPA is below a 2.50, please make an appointment with an education abroad advisor to learn about the GPA appeal process.
  • Have successfully completed three semesters at Babson College by the time of student’s departure (for January-admit students, a full-credit summer term may count toward this)
    • Transfer students must have completed two semesters at Babson College in addition to any credits they have transferred from previous institutions of higher education.
  • Meet program-specific requirements such as a higher GPA, language courses, or other area studies prerequisites

Summer applicants must:

  • Have a minimum 2.50 cumulative Babson grade point average (GPA) at the time of application
    • If your cumulative GPA is below a 2.50, please make an appointment with an education abroad advisor to learn more about the GPA appeal process.
  • Have successfully completed two semesters at Babson College by the time of student’s departure
    • Transfer students must have completed one semester at Babson College in addition to any credits they have transferred from previous institutions of higher education.
  • Meet program-specific requirements such as a higher GPA, language courses, or other area studies prerequisites

Additionally, the Office of Community Standards will review your disciplinary history during the application phase and again immediately prior to departure. Any relevant information is shared with our office. Certain disciplinary histories may delay or prohibit you from studying abroad. We encourage applicants to disclose any disciplinary history during the advising and application process as transparency is an important demonstration of maturity, honesty, and respect.

Deadlines

Final Application Deadline 9/15 2/15* 2/15*
Final Decision Released 10/1 3/1* 3/1*

*Submitting an application by the priority deadline will provide you with an earlier decision from Babson. Some programs (see “Apply” page on program brochures) may only be available during the Priority application phase and may not be available during the Final application phase. Please reference our program availability list, which will be updated throughout the application cycle.

  • Which programs are still available?
  • What is the difference between the priority and the final deadline?
    • Applications submitted by the priority deadline (August 15th or January 15th) will be considered in the priority round of application review. Any applications submitted after the priority deadline (August 15th or January 15th), but before the final deadline (September 15th or February 15th), will be considered in the final round of application review. There is no guarantee that programs with limited spots will still have available spaces during the final round.
  • What programs require an application by the priority deadline?
    • Some programs are only available for application in the priority round - please check our program availability list for reference, and this will be updated as spots are filled in each round. Some summer programs may only be open for the priority deadline of January 15th as well due to program timelines.
  • If I am not approved in the priority round, can I apply again for another program before the final deadline?
    • Yes, students will be considered for their second-choice program if they submit an application by the priority deadline (August 15th or January 15th); however, if a student is not approved for either their first or second choice programs in the priority round, they may submit an application for another program by the final deadline (September 15th or February 15th).
  • Am I required to list a second choice program?
    • Yes, the question about a second choice program is a required question in the application. Applications for a certain program will be considered regardless of what second choice is listed; students will only be considered for their second choice program if they are not approved for their first choice.

Open an education abroad application for the program you choose. You may only open an application for one program per semester or term.

The Babson application will require:

  • Application questionnaire
    • Background information and explanation of the research you have done
    • One backup program option, even though you are applying for one first-choice program
    • Several short essays
  • Faculty recommendation (certain programs may require more than one; this will be listed on the program brochure page)
  • Passport information
    • You may be in the process of applying for or renewing your passport at the time of application, and can indicate this in the form
  • Housing and waiver forms
  • Interview (only required for some programs)

Open and submit your external program application

External program deadlines may vary. Some external programs may have a deadline that falls before the Babson deadline. Make sure you are researching the specific external deadline for your program in advance.

  • For provider programs, the application timeline can be accessed via the program website (e.g. API, Arcadia, CIEE, IES, IFSA).
  • For exchange programs, check the program brochure and/or contact your advisor to confirm. You will need to be nominated by Babson to an exchange program before you are able to apply.
