International Consulting Experience for Prospective Clients

Babson Globe

Babson College’s International Consulting Program provides client companies with an opportunity to get specific marketing challenges addressed by select teams of current undergraduate and graduate business students.

The client companies have the benefit of action-oriented student teams focused on researching, evaluating, and analysing your company's positioning statement and social media presence. In addition, throughout the consulting project each team is coached and advised by an experienced Babson College faculty member.

About the Faculty Advisors

The lead faculty members for the Program are Professor Dwight Gertz and Professor Kim Sawyer.

Professor Gertz is a Senior Lecturer and Faculty Director of the Office of Experiential Learning at Babson College. He teaches courses on business strategy, decision making, and management consulting. Prior to joining Babson he was a partner at Bain & Company and then a member of the management team at three successful start-up businesses. Professor Gertz earned his Bachelor’s degree at Yale University and an MBA at the Harvard Business School.

Kim Sawyer is an Adjunct Lecturer at Babson College. Professor Sawyer has spent more than 25 years as an entrepreneur, business leader and proponent for women in both the US and Portugal. In 2014, she found Connect to Success in Portugal and in 2017 she sold her company to PricewaterhouseCoopers. She currently serves as a non-executive director of a federally chartered bank and is the Principal Strategist at Luminary Strategies. Professor Sawyer earned her Bachelor’s degree at Clark University and her JD at Boston University School of Law.

Virtual Format

Due to the COVID pandemic the International Consulting Program will be executed in a virtual format.

The Program begins with sessions for the students focused on consulting methodology and intercultural competencies. Virtual meetings between Babson and client companies will begin the week of May 17, 2021. The initial meetings between the students and client company will result in a mutually agreed upon scope of work. The student consulting team will spend the semester conducting primary and secondary research, and in the final weeks analyzing the data collected. The consulting project will conclude with a final presentation of the team’s findings and recommendations to the client company.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted in English. The client company primary contact and all important internal client contacts must be fluent in English. Applications should be submitted via the online application form no later than 11:59 PM EST on Friday, April 23, 2021.

Apply Now

The application and supporting documentation will be reviewed by Babson College’s faculty, who will select projects based on the strength of the client company’s applications, ability to solve the issue in a virtual environment, supporting documentation, and the relevance of the client company’s needs to the College’s resources. Please note: the process will be competitive, and limited to the number of slots available at Babson College.

All applicants for the program will be notified the week of April 26, 2021, through an email from the International Consulting Experience Program Manager. Those client companies that have been selected as sponsors will receive a follow up call from the faculty member.

Understanding that the student team’s work will require access to sensitive client information, Babson College requires all faculty and students to sign a Confidentiality Agreement and Insider Trading Policy & Acknowledgement. The signed documents will be emailed by the student team to the client company representative.
