Compliments, Complaints and Administrative Inquiries
It is the policy of the Public Safety Department to investigate all complaints made against members of the department, or against policies or procedures of the department. This applies to complaints (including anonymous complaints) against specific members of the department about the manner in which they handled a task or duty as well as informal inquiries related to the policies, procedures or practices of the department. Please follow the instructions below, depending upon which type of complaint/inquiry you have.
1. How do I Compliment the Public Safety Department?
Members of the Babson College Public Safety Department work hard every day to provide quality and effective public safety services to the Babson community. Many times, community members feel that level of service goes above and beyond the regular call of duty and wish to report that to supervisors for recognition. Commendatory reports may be made in person at the Public Safety building, by email to publicsafety@babson.edu, via phone by calling 781-239-5555, or by letter/card to the Chief of Police.
2. Complaints against Specific Members of the Department
If a community member wishes to file a complaint against a member (or members) of the Babson College Public Safety Department, he/she may do so in person at the Public Safety building, email to publicsafety@babson.edu or via phone by calling 781-239-5555. The complainant can remain anonymous if they do not feel comfortable providing their name. Whether in person, online, or via phone, all complainants will be asked to put their specific complaint in writing (including all facts and details) so that it can be investigated by the Director of Public Safety or his/her designee. All complaints will be investigated.
3. Administrative Inquiries
If a community member wants to know why the Babson College Public Safety Department handled a call or situation in a certain manner, or questioning the legitimacy of a department policy/procedure, he/she may do so in person at the Public Safety building, email to publicsafety@babson.edu or via phone by calling 781-239-5555. The community member can remain anonymous if they wish, however, in he/she wishes to receive a response, they need to provide some means for contact (name and cell phone number or email). All administrative inquiries will be investigated and a response will be provided to the inquiring community member by the Director of Public Safety or his/her designee.
