Daily Crime and Fire Logs

Babson College Public Safety Department maintains a Daily Crime Log and Fire Log for the community in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the “Clery Act”). The Daily Crime Log records; the nature of the incident, the case number, the date and time the incident was reported, the date and time the incident occurred, the general location and the disposition of the incident. The Fire Log records; the date reported, case number, nature of fire, date and time of fire and location of fire. These logs for the most recent 60 business days are maintained and accessible for view 24/7 in the Babson College Public Safety building on Sullivan Way on the Wellesley, MA campus. Portions of the logs that are older than the 60 business days are available within two business days of a request, and can be made by calling 781-239-5555 or emailing publicsafety@babson.edu.

Crime log case numbers do not run sequentially. The Public Safety Department assigns a case number for all reportable activities, both criminal and non-criminal. Only case numbers generated for criminal activity are listed in the crime log. Crimes are listed in chronological order, with the most recent crimes at the top of the list.

According to Federal Law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

1. The disclosure is prohibited by law.
2. If disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim.
3. If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual.
4. If disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection.
5. If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence.
