General Liability Insurance

Liability refers to incidents caused by the negligence of the College and resulting in:

Bodily injury to a

  • Student
  • Guest
  • Vendor

Damage to the property of a

  • Student
  • Employee
  • Guest
  • Vendor

These incidents may occur on College premises or they may occur off College premises during a College event or program.

Reporting a Liability Incident

For incidents occurring on College premises and resulting in bodily injury or property damage:

  • Contact Public Safety at ext 5555 to report the incident.
  • If Public Safety cannot be reached and an injured person requires medical attention, call 911.
  • Do not make any statements regarding liability or payment of bills.
  • Public Safety will conduct an investigation and forward information to the appropriate parties, including Risk Management.
  • Risk Management will notify the appropriate insurer(s).

For incidents occurring off College premises and resulting in bodily injury or property damage:

  • If injured person(s) needs medical assistance, call 911.
  • If there is property damage, advise the owner of the property.
  • Contact Public Safety at 781-239-5555 to report the incident as soon as practical, but no more than 24 hours after the incident occurs.
  • Do not make any statements regarding liability or payment of bills.
  • Public Safety will conduct an investigation and forward information to the appropriate parties, including Risk Management.
  • Risk Management will notify the appropriate insurer(s).

You may be asked to provide the following information:

  • A description of the incident.
  • The condition of the premises.
  • The name(s), telephone number(s), and address(es) of the injured person(s) and any witness(es).
  • Physical State of the injured person.
  • Any statement the injured person made regarding the incident.

Mission

The Risk Management Office supports the core mission of Babson College by protecting the assets of the College from accidental loss, and assuring the continued ability to operate and deliver services.

The Office establishes and implements risk management policies and procedures by identifying and managing the College's exposures to accidental loss.
