During your term abroad, the Babson Education Abroad team and the Babson community are here to support you. While abroad we recommend that you:

Access resources at Babson

During your time abroad, you may contact your Education Abroad Advisor or the Glavin Office of International Education with any questions or for any support you may need.

You also may contact other Babson offices that may be helpful during your time abroad:

Please review the Health and Safety Abroad section for more information about medications abroad, medical insurance information, emergency procedures, and how to stay safe abroad.

Diversity and inclusion abroad

The Glavin Office of International Education encourages students of all backgrounds to participate in an education abroad experience, in hopes that the diversity among participants in our Education Abroad programs reflects the rich diversity of our campus.

Much like many students experience an identity shift when they first arrive at Babson, you may experience a shift in your identity when you go abroad and find yourself in a new cultural context. Understanding how these identity shifts can affect your education abroad experience and engaging with the new and different ways that identity is constructed across cultures, can go a long way toward better understanding yourself as well as the new culture in which you will be living.

The Glavin Office has resources available on Diversity and Inclusion, including pages dedicated to learning and mobility access abroad, multicultural students abroad, religion and spirituality abroad, women abroad, athletes abroad, and LGBTQ+ students abroad.

You are still a Babson student while you are abroad, and all of Babson’s resources are still available to you no matter where you are studying from. Access more resources related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Babson.

Reflect and share your experience

The Education Abroad team will send you a series of prompts via email throughout your term abroad. These prompts are meant to inspire personal reflection on different topics regarding your host community and intercultural learning abroad. You can choose to share your answer to each prompt with an accompanying photo to be posted on the Glavin Office Instagram. If you would like to share any of your other experiences through an Instagram takeover at any point during your time abroad, feel free to contact your Education Abroad advisor.

Experience new academic content

The academic experience abroad will likely be very different from what you experience here at Babson. Different class sizes, styles of instruction, and maybe even a new language will contribute to an exciting but sometimes stressful experience. Please refer to the Academics module in your Canvas course for more information about coursework abroad.
